Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  What is a professional organizer?

A:  A professional organizer guides, encourages, and educates clients using tested organizing

principles and  through transference of organizing skills.  Professional organizers are often a

catalyst for change,  helping clients achieve progress that they could not otherwise accomplish

on their own.  A professional organizer can help clients gain control of their surroundings, time,

paperwork, and clutter by designing systems and processes that address the individual's unique

       organizing challenges.

Q:  What can a professional organizer do for me?

A:  A professional organizer will offer solutions and systems designed to help clients regain control

over their belongings and surroundings.  Using a supportive and non-judgmental approach, the

professional organizer can help implement strategies that increase awareness and productivity,

reduce stress, and improve self-confidence.  By working in tandem with your organizer, you can

learn new skills and techniques that will make it possible for organization to be maintained.

Q:  What type of training is required of a professional organizer?

A:  While no formal training is required to be a professional organizer,  a small percentage of

organizers pursue national certification  (CPO®) by NAPO, the National Association of

Productivity and Organizing Professionals.  CPO®s must pass a comprehensive exam and

document more than 1500 hours of paid organizing experience within five years prior to applying.

In addition, CPO®s must earn 45 continuing education units every three years to qualify for

        re-certification.

Q:  Will my privacy be protected?

A:  Absolutely.   At A Better Way Organizing, we consider it a privilege to be invited into our client's

home and as such, understand the level of trust they have placed in us.   Honesty, confidentiality,          and integrity are the core principles of NAPO's Code of Ethics and we strictly adhere to those

        standards.

Q:  How long will it take for me to get organized and how much will it cost?

A:  This depends on the scope of the project and how quickly you are able to make decisions.  The

professional organizer will guide you through the sorting process, making observations and

suggestions to help you decide which items are important and which are no longer useful.

A Better Way Organizing offers very competitive rates and a variety of scheduling options, to

include 1/2 or full-day appointments, package plans, and ultimately, a maintenance program.

Q:  I'm ready to get started.  What's the next step?

A:  We're excited to help you!  Call us today for a free 30-minute phone consultation.  This will give

us the opportunity to get to know each other, discuss your goals and challenges, and to

determine if we  are a good fit to work together.
